What a surprise this announcement was! To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary UK software house, Blaze Entertainment have announced the upcoming release of Rare Collection 1.
Releasing in November 2025, Rare Collection 1 features an eclectic selection of 12 games from the developer’s early history. Encompassing both home computer and console titles, the sleeve will be reversible (blue for computer, red for console), in a first for the Evercade range.

The home computer titles featured are pretty much all classics which truly built Rare’s reputation, though back then they were known as Ultimate Play The Game. Atic Atac, Gunfright, Jetpac, Knight Lore, Lunar Jetman, Sabre Wulf and Underwurlde are the computer games included, all of which are here in their ZX Spectrum incarnations.

The console titles are from the NES, largely: get ready to abuse those save states with the infamously difficult Battletoads, Cobra Triangle and RC Pro-Am.

Plus, Game Boy Color game Conker’s Pocket Tales and even Battletoads Arcade are also included, making this a cartridge that technically spans all of the Evercade ranges.
It’s incredibly exciting, and gives us our 48th release in the main, console-focused Evercade range. What will be the 50th? Surely Blaze have some more exciting reveals up their sleeves, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
