Jackson T. Winters is busted out of prison to carry out a heist for wealthy benefactor. He’s not enlisted to steal money or other valuables, however. Nope, Winters is instead tasked with stealing a ghost. First point of order: put together a team. And then we’re off to a haunted house…
I get the impression that writer Joshua Williamson was pretty immature when he wrote this series; it’s full of attempts to make the lead character seem like a badass, but he just comes across as an asshole for much of this issue’s page count. It also doesn’t help that the comic opens with an almost jaw-droppingly tasteless, and completely unnecessary, splash page; I guess the idea is to show what Winters is up against in prison, but it immediately feels like an enormous misstep.
Once we’re into more traditional heist territory, however, things do settle down. We get the familiar montage of putting together a team, though the premise allows for slightly more off-the-wall characters than you’d usually expect.
Though the cover art is less than impressive, I did find the more cartoonish interior art to be a better fit for the ultimately bizarre subject matter.
There’s a good cliffhanger too, so it at least ends in a decent place. It’s just a shame that the opening sequence is so jarring, and the attempts at humour in the initial pages don’t really help matters either.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
