Serial killer bear Samantha Strong is trying to find and stop another murderer before it leads to the cops finding evidence of her own gruesome killings. With another of the townsfolk brutally butchered, Sam stumbles on a clue, and believes that she has found the culprit. Why is Melody Davis still talking to her supposedly dead husband? If he is dead, who is that in her bed?
Though I’ve made much of the contrast between the cute aesthetic and the horrific subject matter in Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, I haven’t yet touched upon the fact that its world has some really intriguing details, lurking in the panels throughout.
One of the most interesting aspects is that, despite the animals of the main cast being Richard Scarry-esque style anthropomorphic animals with job and houses, regular, non-humanoid animals do exist in the world of Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees. No doubt there will be some sort of explanation or insight at some point, but for now it’s a very compelling detail which hints at there being more to this world than there appears to be at first.
This issue in general is, ultimately, a really heartbreaking, melancholy look at the effect that death can have on us, and the ways in which people grieve, or find ways to carry on despite unimaginable loss and pain.
The series so far is very special indeed, and its Dexter-esque protagonist remains a fascinatingly layered character too. Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees is an incredibly compelling page turner of a comic, and it’s easy to see why it’s been such a big hit.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
