After his last victory, X is hunting for Mavericks in the Weapon Factory. What he finds there is surprising, as well as potentially deadly!

These comics are so much fun. I know I say it all the time, but it bears repeating; they’re hardly the deepest of stories, but there’s something about Udon’s comics which just hit different, and these Mega Man titles are no exception.

Gorgeous artwork, brilliant references to the video games (including the variant cover pictured, which pays close homage to the Mega Man X SNES games) and pretty much non-stop action just makes it feel like the digital experience, perfectly adapted.

There’s a whole sequence here framed to look like a 2D Mega Man stage and it is glorious. Sure, the dialogue is cheesy, and the plot barely there.

Yet even that makes it feel like the early 90s, campy narrative style of the Mega Man games; for fans, this is genuinely flawless in its execution. We aren’t expecting deep lore or complex plots, just a good, old fashioned retro game adaptation with beautiful art and exciting action. That’s certainly what we get here, and I’m already looking forward to the next chapter in X’s quest!

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
