I discovered Feral quite late, having only checked it out after four volumes (and a few extra issues) had been published. I’ve been hooked on it ever since I devoured (absolutely the right word!) the first volume though, and here we are with the second.

Our group of cats finds themselves separated, with one of the trio infected by the virus that’s consumed so many animals in the area. Yet an opportunity for safety in numbers seems to present itself. Can the cat lady prove to be salvation for our feline protagonists?

As dark as the first volume was, the tension dials up until we get some truly shocking horror in volume 2. It’s fair to say that something isn’t quite right with the seemingly kindly cat lady.

This volume also felt a lot closer to the creeping dread and shocks in Stray Dogs, Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner’s other animal-themed horror series, rather than the outright panic of volume one.

Of course, given that the series is still continuing, you already know that safety is far from found here. And volume 3 has even more shocks in store…
