No, that can’t be true with Vampirella, because this cover, as borderline nude as the cosplay photo is (and let’s face it, there’s barely even a costume at this point!), is a variant and not the standard cover art.

Still, it really is an absolutely baffling read, as it has been from issue #1. Priest, once famed for his layered and complex plots, seems determined to do something similar with Vampirella but instead ties himself up in knots of continuity and time, without any of the elements making much sense even in isolation.

It’s almost completely incomprehensible, and so devoid of anything resembling entertainment that you could certainly be forgiven for thinking that we’re all supposed to be distracted by Rachel Hollon’s butt.

I’m definitely glad to see the back of this terrible story arc, which has honestly been one of the most dreadful ways to relaunch a series that I’ve seen in a very long time. It’s hard to believe that it’ll start making sense in the next arc, given that Priest has introduced all of these baffling storylines and characters, without resolving much at all. I guess we’ll see…
