I’m very late in covering this May 2026 comic, but having now read it, I wanted to share some thoughts.

I was too old for Power Rangers even back when it debuted, and yet as a kid who’d grown up adoring the campy kaiju action of Godzilla’s Shōwa Era, it was perfect TV for me. So I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for the goofy silliness of Power Rangers, and it’s great to see the concept still surviving and being reinvented over 30 years later.

Boom Studios have published Power Rangers comics for years, and this year they’ve revamped their line, launching three new Power Rangers titles.

The first, Might Morphin Power Rangers, follows the original team decades later as adults, with all of them called back into action by Billy, the Blue Ranger. Green Ranger Tommy and mentor figure Zordon are missing, and the Rangers are needed to defend the world once again from a familiar enemy.

Next up is Power Rangers Unlimited, which has the intriguing concept of original Yellow Ranger Trini being able to call upon any and all Rangers from across the vastness of time and space.

Finally, an Old Man Logan style story in Power Rangers Green, which follows Tommy Oliver in the future, mostly alone (though one other familiar face makes an appearance).

It goes to show how much mileage there is in the Power Rangers concept, despite how repetitive and derivative the TV show could often be. Each story seems to be handled very well by the respective creative teams, with art and writing on point throughout.

If I get the chance, having read this taster of all three series, I’d love to check them all out; each shows a lot of promise, and they all feel unique in a number of ways.
