As it’s Batman Day today, I thought I’d belatedly cover this all ages, Free Comic Book Day video game tie-in. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is an open world title which homages the phenomenal Arkham games, and includes all of the humourous movie, comic and video game references you’d expect from a Lego game. As well as tons and tons of unlockable content!

This comic book prequel sets up the game, with a Batman who has been missing in action for years. He makes his return quite swiftly (in page count terms at least), and sets out to clean up Gotham City once more.

Very light hearted, very brief but lots of fun, this comic is a very short experience but fun while it lasts. I particularly enjoyed the fourth wall breaks about page counts, and the sheer number of little references and homages despite the short length is admirable, and on form for Lego tie-ins!

If you can still get your hands on this comic, it’s enjoyable enough, and does a good job of whetting your appetite for the video game. It’s also completely suitable for readers of all ages too, which is definitely a bonus when it comes to Batman.
