What is best in life? A Saturday morning, full English breakfast and The Savage Sword of Conan with coffee, that’s what!

Issue 16 of The Savage Sword of Conan features three stories which tie into this year’s Conan comics crossover event, The Tides of the Tyrant King.

Though I’ve yet to read any of the main comic yet, this issue does a good job of setting it up. First we have a Conan-adjacent tale of madness and Doom (yes, with a capital D!), then a weird west story with gunslinger Steve Corcoran, and finally a time-twisting tale of warrior woman, Zuleika.

It’s up to the usual standards of the series; superb writing, a varied selection of stories and pin-up style pages, with absolutely gorgeous, black and white art throughout. It’s a great justification and showcase for the oversized format too.

Though most issues of The Savage Sword of Conan stand alone, so you can jump on whenever you want, this one does lead into The Tides of the Tyrant King with each story, but not in such a way that you don’t feel as if you’re only getting part of a story.

It’s a neat trick to pull off, and it just goes to show once more why The Savage Sword of Conan is one of the best value comics anthologies being published right now.

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
