The fun continues in My Little Pony/Transformers #3, the penultimate issue of the crossover that seems as if it could very easily have been the most cynical of marketing ploys – yet has been an infectiously joyous and incredibly fun read.

The first story in the third issue sees mischievous multi-species hybrid (Draconequus being the official species name) Discord and pony friend Fluttershy encountering loyal Decepticon Soundwave and his legion of cassette soldiers. Things start off cutely, but take a more aggressive turn – and soon, the Decepticons find out that no one messes with Discord’s friends!

The second tale sees pony Rainbow Dash in a friendly race with aerial Autobot Windblade – which goes well until they’re interrupted by the nefarious Misfire and his colourful, skyfaring buddies.

Once more, I’m pleased to say that it’s a fast, fun, charming and breezy read that’s suitable for all ages. Honestly, I really did expect to find a lazily constructed crossover before I’d read any of My Little Pony/Transformers – but it’s been an absolute blast so far. With just one issue of the series to go, I’m actually going to miss reading the odd couple adventures of pony and robot characters found within the pages of these comics.
