There can’t be many games out there which take inspiration not only from classic action adventure games such as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, but also from a real life brush with bankruptcy – so Dandy & Randy DX, which stars a pair of anthropomorphic archaeologists with debt problems, is a pretty unique title in that regard.

Not only is the gorgeous pixel art a loving tribute to the games of the past, but the mechanics – featuring items such as a boomerang and hookshot – definitely hammer home how much tribute is being paid here.

With plenty of bosses to overcome, puzzles to solve and a beautifully depicted island to explore, Dandy and Randy DX looks like it’s going to be en excellent game for retro gamers looking for a modern twist on a classic formula.

Brazil indie developer Asterstic Game Studio created the game and prolific indie publisher Ratalaika Games are on digital publishing duties. Dandy & Randy DX is being released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Steam PC and Nintendo Switch on April 29th 2022.
