For British gamers of a certain age (cough – mid-forties or so – cough) the Amiga still holds a certain fascination and has an unbelievably strong nostalgic pull.
Yet even though that’s the case for me, I actually never owned one. A friend of mine had one, though not until around 1994 or so.
For me, having owned a Master System, SNES and Jaguar during the Amiga’s heyday, that nostalgia is from the glowing reviews and impressive screenshots I always saw in multi format magazines.
Few publishers consistently had as many Amiga games that I was desperate to try than Team17 and – just as they did with their Lynx collections among others – thankfully Evercade have struck a deal that’ll allow me to finally get my hands on plenty of glorious old school games either again or for the first time.
The Team17 Collection 1 cartridge looks to be a real heavy hitter with an impressively varied line up of Amiga games.
The full list is as follows:
Alien Breed Special Edition ‘92
Alien Breed II
Alien Breed Tower Assault
Arcade Pool
ATR: All Terrain Racing
Body Blows
Full Contact
Kingpin: Arcade Sports Series Bowling
Project X: Special Edition ‘93
Qwak
Though almost a third of the included games are Alien Breed related – which, given how cool those top down, Aliens-inspired titles are, is not a bad thing – there’s a nicely varied selection of genres on offer everywhere else.
Intriguingly, Evercade point out that this is that legal Amiga emulation has appeared on a handheld gaming device and a physical cartridge collection, fully licensed of course.
This is definitely another Evercade cartridge I can’t wait to add to my ever growing collection – I’ll be sure to pick it up as soon as it’s available, with release currently set for May 31st 2023.
