Jack Boniface is having trouble sleeping since his encounter with the mysterious, deadly Lydia, and his housekeeper, Nettie, seems to know exactly what’s wrong. Before long, Nettie’s sending him on a mission to take down a serial killer who’s lurking in the swamps…
There’s at least an interesting dynamic set up in this issue; Nettie’s knowledge of Shadowman and voodoo gives an interesting edge to Boniface’s story. It’s still not entirely convincing, and there’s some awkwardness that probably speaks more to the era it was published in than anything else, but I do at least appreciate the fact that it’s a proper attempt at telling an unusual superhero story with a cast almost entirely consisting of people of colour.
I’m going to keep reading the series anyway; after all, I did pick up quite a few of the issues for an incredibly cheap price at Portsmouth Comic-Con, so I’m pretty much locked in for as long as I have issues of Shadowman to read!
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
