The second cartridge in the home computer range for the Evercade, The C64 Collection 2 features a large selection of 14 games from Commodore’s popular 80s computer.

I wasn’t overly enamoured with The C64 Collection 1 cartridge, finding most of the games to feel incredibly dated and unenjoyable.

Yet the games in The C64 Collection 2 feel a lot stronger overall, with a decent selection of platform run-and-gun titles, sports compilations and shoot ’em ups, with a few other genres thrown in there for good measure.

Not every title is a hit, but with 14 games, which seems like a luxury now for the Evercade, which has seen the number of games per cartridge drop dramatically as the range has expanded, there’s lots to entertain and more than enough to justify the price tag.

If you’re a Commodore 64 fan with familiarity with the games on this cartridge, you’ll likely find much more to like about it than a filthy casual such as myself, who may have had experience with California Games, but not the version included here – nor much exposure to any of the other games in the collection.
