Three new tables have arrived in Pinball FX VR. Let’s fire up the Meta Quest 3 and find out if they’re worth playing!

Goat Simulator Pinball

If you’re at all familiar with the Goat Simulator games (and believe me, I’m very familiar with them!), you should really have a blast with Goat Simulator Pinball. It mostly adapts the style and content of Goat Simulator 3 into pinball form, with amusing voiceovers, chaotic gameplay (along with clips of the video games on the table’s screen) and Pilgor the goat adorably watching you play. Sometimes even ragdolling chaotically along the way, as is tradition in Goat Simulator. This is a superb table if you’re a fan of Goat Simulator, but it may leave you confused if you aren’t overly familiar with the original games. Still, it’s nicely designed too, so there’s still fun to be had even if you’re not a Pilgor enthusiast.

The Princess Bride

One of my favourite movies of all time, it’s fantastic to play through the story in pinball, and even better with The Dread Pirate Roberts alongside you as you play. Just as Goat Simulator Pinball uses game footage on its screen at relevant points, The Princess Bride features actual clips from the movie, along with a huge amount of dialogue snippets from the film too. The art style has a nice storybook aesthetic, and it’s a surprisingly chilled out table design, with a nicely measured pace. A decent contrast to Goat Simulator, and one which fans of the source material should really enjoy!

Pacific Rim Pinball

Gypsy Danger, a giant, mech-style Jaeger from the movie, stands alongside you as you battle kaiju in Pacific Rim Pinball. The use of the movie’s soundtrack and film clips is great here, but I found the table design to be a bit lacking. It feels like it doesn’t  really pick up the pace enough, given the subject matter, and even when it kicks into gear with multiball, it seems to somewhat lack the impact and spectacle that you might expect. It’s fine, but launching alongside these other two tables, it’s clear which ones I’d recommend.

These three tables were played on Meta Quest 3, and they’re available now from the Meta Quest store.
