In pursuit of a dragon whose theft of powerful gems drew Conan into Dragonero’s world, the airship carrying the two warriors is attacked by wyverns. Meanwhile, the dragon they’re pursuing seeks aid from another mystical creature, and his rejuvenation may spell trouble for his pursuers.

I know I mentioned this in my previous review, but I genuinely had never heard of Dragonero before this crossover, and yet I’m already warming to him as a character with a distinctive lore and world in comparison to Conan’s.

Lorenzo Nuti, serving as both artist and colourist, does a fantastic job of illustrating the story, with excellent, propulsive action scenes and awesome creature design.

The richness of Dragonero’s world doesn’t entirely come across in just these comics, but it does help that there’s an interview with the creators about the crossover after the story in each issue, and the details given there really add to the sense that there is a big, functional realm beyond what is seen in the story.

I wasn’t sure what I’d think of this crossover when I picked up the first issue, and wasn’t really sold on it until the second, but this third issue really is very strong indeed, and I’ll definitely be staying on board the airship with these guys as the crossover continues.
