This thing is huge. I’ve never had a comic this big in my hands, and as soon as I saw it on sale at the comic shop, I had to have it. After all, how on Earth would I have been able to get something this size sent safely in the post?

Anyway, this 5th anniversary special, celebrating half a decade of sexy, action/noir Gun Honey is really cool, but you could see why existing Gun Honey fans would think it’s a little underwhelming for the cost.

It reprints the very first issue of Gun Honey, except at a mammoth size, along with a cover gallery and a few pieces of background material such as insight into the genesis of Gun Honey and a script-to-page comparison.

The story itself is excellent, setting up the unique ‘Gun Honey’ herself, a sexy mercenary whose job isn’t to carry out assassinations but to covertly provide the weaponry for someone else to do the deed.

It certainly leaves you wanting more, but of course if you’ve already read it, there’s little to bring you back except its impressive size; though the behind the scenes stuff is good, it won’t justify the cost of the special alone.

As someone who’s always been intrigued by Gun Honey without ever getting around to checking it out until now, this is probably the point at which I start catching up!
