The climax of Udon’s Mega Man X series is here, with a huge battle on the cards for X, against the villainous Sigma. It’s really cool how this fight continues to escalate, with Sigma continuing to demonstrate just how evil he is, until only one of them is left standing.

This has been such a fun series, and I love how it feels both like an anime and a video game on the page. The panels have a real dynamic energy to them, and Hanzo Steinbach’s art works wonders with this epic boss fight. There’s a few panels where things could be clearer, but in general Steinbach’s work is superb.

Daniel Arseneault shouldn’t be overlooked with his melodramatic script either, which really taps into the spirit of the campy writing we see in Capcom’s Mega Man X games.

This has been a real treat for video game fans, and for Mega Man fans in general, and I’m glad it ends with a promise that X will return.
