Ex-Purple Dragons boss Hun returns from the dead to take back his gang. He’s not alone though, with a portal between the living and dead realms bringing back lots of people, with death rewarding them with extra life. Only Ninjara and Slash, last seen in Battle Nexus, stand in their way.

I’m really not a fan of the current storyline in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and this one-shot is a perfect example of why. The fact that so many previously dead characters can simply walk back into New York removes so much drama and danger, and it’s not helped by a clunky, old-fashioned script that’s overly wordy, mean-spirited and fails to take the central idea anywhere interesting.

The art doesn’t feel right either; it’s all rather stiff and murky at times, not helped by a very dark colour palette.

Though it’s only a one-shot, the story will be continuing in the next issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Let’s hope there’s not much longer to go with this storyline…
