Currently in the midst of a Kickstarter campaign – and around 40% funded with 27 days to go as of the time of writing – Commander ’85 is an adventure game for PC and consoles, with release planned for Autumn 2020. Capitalising on the currently very widespread nostalgia for the 80s, it’s a game that’s absolutely loaded from top to bottom with references to the popular culture of the decade.

There’s a very Stranger Things-esque group of teens involved in the shenanigans, with the main protagonist – a teenager living in the Chicago suburbs – receiving a Commander computer for his birthday; a present that turns out to be much more than meets the eye.

A variety of minigames are included, including some good, old fashioned 80s movie-style hacking. A decade appropriate soundtrack, random events and three different endings are the icing on the cake.

Check out the trailer below – if you’d like to support the project yourself, you can donate via the Kickstarter page here. You can also add the game to your wishlist on Steam here.
