Looking like a cross between the controller that was bundled with ill-fated Android console, the Ouya, and an Xbox One controller, the Gamory Switch Controller isn’t going to win any points for originality.
However unoriginal and uninspired the design may be, it makes up for this by being incredibly cheap and yet nicely featured, especially for the price point. Switch controllers are ten a penny on sites like Amazon these days and it can be a bit of a minefield in knowing whether you’re going to get a decent product for your cash or not.
Thankfully, despite a slightly plasticky feel, the Gamory Switch Controller does everything it needs to pretty well. Connecting the controller to the console is painless, charging it – which takes 2-3 hours for 8-10 hours of play time – is a doddle and you can even use it on PC too.
Unlike some cheaper controllers, it does feature gyro support too – so it really does have all of the features you’d expect, even though it can be purchased for about half the price of an ‘official’ first or third party Pro Controller.
Gamory do sell similar Switch controllers with slightly different designs, so it’s really about personal preference; I must admit I quite like the part gloss/part matte black look with the coloured letters featured on this one.
So if you are looking for a cheap replacement or just an extra controller for your Switch, you could certainly do a lot worse. It’s not the most inspiring product but it works well and is fully functional, which is what it needs to be. A great value, no nonsense controller.

Note: The Gamory controller is intermittently available, but this Pumteck-branded controller is exactly the same design and build quality, so if you’re looking for a cheap and reliable third party pro controller for Switch, it’s a great choice. You can buy that one here.
