The mismatched Hasbro franchise crossover sequel continues, with the evil Lord Sombra having declared himself ruler of Cybertron. The two stories we have here make passing reference to this, but again we’re in the midst of the action with a pleasing mix of familiar and not-so-familiar characters from both Equestria and Cybertron.

The first tale is a music-heavy story, with Soundwave and a group of oddballs from Equestria trapped in a Cybertronian cave, forced into an uneasy truce to escape.

Secondly, we have a fashion-focused tale that gives us a glimpse beyond the functional mechanical environments and inhabitants of Cybertron that we usually see.

As they’ve seemed to be so far for the most part, both stories are harmless, colourful, fast-paced fun. They’re not especially memorable in this issue, but it’s not as if they’re bad, per se. The art is great as always though, with a nice cartoony look that does a great job of giving the mash-up a bit of consistency – even though the franchises are usually very different from a visual standpoint.

With just one issue to go, there’s likely to be a quick wrapping up of the story with the Ponies making their escape back to Equestria, just as it happened the other way around with the Autobots and Decepticons getting back to Cybertron at the climax of the first series. We’ll find out soon enough!
