A Trail of Ooze is a point and click adventure that’s currently seeking funds on Kickstarter, with a beautifully appealing, hand-drawn visual style and a sense of humour that’s billed as ‘udderly amoosing’.
Players are cast in the role of Majros, a sarcastic Swedish cow who sets out on a mission to rescue her kidnapped owner – by following the trail of ooze left by a decidedly environmentally unfriendly company: the insidious CropCorp.

With an focus on environmental responsibility – albeit using humour to put across its points – A Trail of Ooze feels like it’s perfectly timed to take advantage of the global focus on environmental protection. It’s a unique focus for a point and click adventure too, though the humourous tone is something that’ll definitely be familiar to long-term fans of the genre.
Launch is planned for Windows and Mac in 2023, with potential console versions also on the horizon.
There’s a demo available right now on Steam or itch.io; it’s a really impressive production, especially when you consider that indie developers Insanto Studios began work on the game in their spare time as a hobby; the four person team all have a love of point and click adventures – with titles such as Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Deponia and Day of the Tentacle all cited as favourites.
With just nine days to go on the campaign, A Trail of Ooze is just over halfway to its funding goal. Let’s hope it gets over the line – the world could certainly do with a new breed of environmental hero – and Majros may just be the champion we need.
