Though ININ are handling a standard physical edition and BlissBrain are publishing a digital version of the Wonder Boy Collection, those compilations are being released with four (admittedly excellent!) games. Though still exciting for Wonder Boy fans, those editions do feel somewhat incomplete – especially when placed alongside the incredible versions that Strictly Limited Games have the exclusive rights to.

Even the least spectacular edition that they have on offer – with all being available for PS4 and Switch – comes with six different Wonder Boy games, albeit with 21 variations in total. These include arcade, Master System, Mega Drive/Genesie and Game Gear versions of the games on offer, which are: Wonder Boy, Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair, Wonder Boy The Dragon‘s Trap, Wonder Boy in Monster World and Monster World IV.

For fans of the series, it’s an absolutely essential collection on its own.

There are two special editions on offer too. The first is the Collector’s Edition, which contains an astonishing amount of physical extras – check out this image for an overview of what’s included:

This edition is limited and numbered – with 1500 copies available for PS4 and 3000 copies available on Switch. This spectacular collection is limited to just 499 copies for PS4 and 999 for Switch. The star of the show in that collection has to be the full set of soundtrack CDs, though the Music Box is also a pretty nifty collectible too!

With this year being the 35th Anniversary of the Wonder Boy series and all of these phenomenal collections being made available (though no firm release date given on them, unfortunately), it’s arguably never been a better time to be a Wonder Boy fan.
