Once again, I’m pretty late to this news – but for the next few weeks, Evercade VS owners can download and check out the entire game Gelatinous: Humanity Lost, for my very favourite price – free!
Though only a few weeks remain to get the current Game of the Month, once you’ve downloaded it, it won’t be replaced until you update your console again – so you can extend that time if you wish!
In Gelatinous: Humanity Lost, your explorer is magically transformed into a blob of slime after trying to uncover the secret to eternal life. Don’t you hate it when that happens?

Though progress through the labyrinthine temple you’re trapped in is initially very challenging – your blob form can’t even jump at first – you’ll soon discover more abilities that’ll help you to make progress and hopefully escape; maybe even return to your human form? Who knows?
Certainly not me, because I absolutely suck at this game. Still, it’s a cleverly designed title and the Evercade’s save states come in very handy, given its punishingly high difficulty level.
For that, you have to thank co-creators John Roo and Steven Long, two defiantly old school gamers who grew up testing their will against the NES-hard games of the 80s and 90s. The high difficulty level is entirely intentional – and causes more profanity to emerge from my mouth than can be found in Roo’s expletive-laden script for his previous game, Quest Arrest (which you can find on the Indie Heroes Collection 1 cartridge for Evercade).

Just like all other previously available Game of the Month titles, it’ll be appearing on the Indie Heroes 2 cartridge – which is due for release on the 31st of January 2023. Note that your save game won’t carry across to the cartridge version – so be sure to make a note of the passwords whenever you come across them in Gelatinous: Humanity Lost!
You can purchase the first Indie Heroes Collection from Amazon here.
