Ahead of a solo movie, which looks like it terrifyingly leans very far into the body horror aspect of the character, Clayface gets his own mini series, starting here with Clayface: Celebrity Dirt #1.

In this first issue, Clayface (aka actor Basil Karlo) is locked up in Arkham Towers, kept in conditions which stop him from oozing out of containment. Unable to be trusted, he finds a way out, only to discover that he may not be who he thinks he is…

Jude Ellison S. Doyle, known for writing horror comics, is a fantastic choice to write Clayface, particularly one which seems to have a similar tone to the upcoming movie. I really liked that Clayface gets a proper role as the protagonist here, with no other cameos to distract from the star of the show.

There are several moments of shocking body horror in this opening issue, and Doyle’s script is served very well indeed by Fran Galán’s gorgeous and twisted art. Patricio Delpeche helps to give the visuals a painterly look, and overall the aesthetics are a perfect fit for the material.

I was really impressed with this first issue, and I’m excited to see how Clayface fares on the big screen too. For now, the mystery and the body horror of Celebrity Dirt will tide me over.

Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.

Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
