An expanded edition of previous release, Die Haschwalth’s, creator Lanier Burton once more takes us on a journey looking at the final confrontation of a Nazi in the early 20th century, and how his actions, not to mention his twisted beliefs, seem to filter through his lineage over the course of the next several decades.
Burton employs an almost bewildering array of styles here, with the overall manga-esque panels and art giving way to a variety of techniques, including Game Boy pixel art and a storybook style sequence.
As mentioned in my review of the earlier edition, Die Haschwalth’s is, some may say sadly, perfectly timed, given so many events of the last few years worldwide. Burton does a great job of showing how bigots continuously frame themselves as the victims, despite their despicable actions and views.
Burton self-funds and publishes his comics, such as Man in Machine, and his creativity has even seen him produce a soundtrack for Die Haschwalth’s. You can find this, and links to buy the comic, at Lanier Burton’s website. Die Haschwalth’s Deluxe is also available to read via GlobalComix.
Despite some difficult subject matter (which goes to some strange places at times), Die Haschwalth’s Deluxe is well worth checking out.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Help support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! Please be aware though: there’s no pressure. I just hope you’ve enjoyed reading my article!
