I love a fantasy epic with a map and a world-building depth that you can really sink your teeth into. While Fortune certainly kicks off with a map and plenty of intriguing detail about its fantastical kingdoms, it does so to tell a story that’s zoomed in on a particular party of mercenaries, with glimpses at the dangers in the world beyond their immediate surroundings.
The young band have been confronted in a tavern, with a rival making a deadly challenge that they really shouldn’t accept. Beyond this threat, something is lurking in the wilderness, and the danger it brings is looking likely to soon become a much bigger problem…
I was very intrigued by the events of the first issue of Fortune, so I’m glad that creator Luke McKoy shared a digital copy of the second issue with me. It’s an exciting read, and the artwork is very well done, with some great action, along with some terrifying moments (and great design work), as we head towards the climax.
Though this is issue 2 of a 5 issue series, it feels as if the rich setting and the details briefly doled out at the outset lend themselves to a variety of stories within the same world. Regardless of that, I’m really looking forward to seeing how this particular tale plays out.
Hi! I’m Jason, and I write for midlifegamergeek.com, every single day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human created content (which has never been plagiarised or otherwise copied from the hard work of other writers), you can donate and help me to keep this site running.
Not only do I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages; as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), but it seems that my work has, at times, been stolen and re-used by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure of course, but I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.
Any donations are truly appreciated – and I also appreciate you taking the time to read my articles. Remember: this whole article was by Jason Brown, and appeared on midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
